my life is in the hands of the Maker of Heaven.

Viva la online shopping!
Today was a successful shopping day.

A crappy iPhone version of the lovely song Vagner surprised me with five minutes ago. :’)
Lemme tell you about this girl, she’s about 5’2
She’s got jet black hair and her favorite color’s blue
She’s prettiest when she’s smiling
You can see her heart because it shows on her face
Her life tells a story of forgiveness and grace
She makes me happy without even trying
She puts up with me for most all days
Loves the lost, it’s hot as crap when she prays*
Hates movies, but that’s okay
Sometimes I just have to say..
How did I get somebody like you
To fall in love with someone like me
But I ain’t complaining
Falling for you is like rhythm and blues
Like singing along to my favorite tune
It’s so easy
But I ain’t complaining
*Inside joke. Have no fear.
I feel like God confirms things to me right when I start doubting myself.
I fall into this trap of false humility where any time someone says I’m a good writer, I protest and deny it. I think that it makes me seem humble when in reality, that’s me denying the calling God has placed on my life.
Even when I applied for my internships, I said I wouldn’t get anything and would just do interviews for the experience. All three of the companies I want to work for offered me positions.
Then I met with a bureau chief from the Associated Press (!!!), which was a complete God thing. He looked over my resume and told me that I was doing a good job. I asked him what he looks for in AP writers and he listed off a few things and said, ‘Honestly, I think you’ve got it.’ He told me to keep in touch with him.
I’m not saying any of this to brag. It’s just crazy how whenever I doubt what I’m doing, I feel like these crazy things happen to remind me where I’m supposed to be.
Needtobreathe puts on an incredible show. Seriously, if you ever have a chance to see them, go for it. They’re an amazing rock band.
Before the encore, the band went offstage and the lights were off, so we decided to troll and sing the ‘woah-oh-oh’s’ from the bridge of Hillsong’s With Everything, since that’s what everyone does during Hillsong worship events when the lights are off.
It was pretty funny. After the concert, a girl told us that she loves With Everything, which was neat. All in all, awesome night.
- I didn’t skip any classes. (Yes, long naps are fun, but being responsible has its perks.)
- I finally went to a Society of Professional Journalists meeting. I’ve been slacking.
- I had an egg roll.
- I am one day closer to seeing Needtobreathe. (This Sunday!)
- I had Bible study over FaceTime with Vagner.
- He called me a ‘Bible hipster’ because one of my favourite books is Hosea. Psh.
- I get to sleep in tomorrow.
- ‘You Know Me’ by Steffany Frizzell is still wrecking me each time I listen.
- God is always good.
